BMW 3.0 CS, 1971

The BMW 3.0 CS saw the light of day in the year 1971. traditionally in every model series BMW creates a nice coupe next to the sedan model. The body of the 3.0 CS and the other variants like the 2.5 CS/ 2800 CS/ 3.0 CSI came from the 2000 CS which was presented in the year 1965. The new series was given a longer bonnet and a restyled front giving the car it's great looks. All the CS/I models were fantastic and expensive cars those days and it were great driver cars. The six cylinder in-line engines were jewels of smoothness and power. From August 1972 the car became also available with petrol injection by the name CSI. The BMW motorsport division also built a racingcar based on this coupe, the CSL. this car was lightened by 200 kilogram's by using some aluminium alloy body panels and Plexiglas side windows. Between the years 1971 and 1975 a total of 11.063 BMW 3.0 CS models were built. The car was succeeded by the BMW 630 CSI in the year 1976.
